  • 9 pieces Lasagna noodles Regular or no-boil noodles work well. If using no-boil noodles, add an extra splash of water.
  • 1 lb Ground beef or Italian sausage Ground turkey can be a lighter alternative.
  • 1 medium Onion, diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 28 oz Crushed tomatoes
  • 15 oz Tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning Substitute with equal parts dried oregano, basil, and thyme if needed.
  • 15 oz Ricotta cheese Cottage cheese and sour cream can be substituted.
  • 2 cups Shredded mozzarella cheese Be generous for a gooey texture.
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste Season generously.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground meat, diced onion, and minced garlic until browned and cooked through. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, and Italian seasoning to the skillet. Stir to combine and bring it to a simmer, allowing it to cook for about 10 minutes.
  3. Break the lasagna noodles into pieces and add them to the sauce in the skillet. Stir well to ensure the noodle pieces are submerged. Cover and cook for about 15 minutes, or until the noodles are tender.
  4. While the noodles are cooking, mix the ricotta cheese in a bowl with salt and pepper.
  5. Once the noodles are cooked, dollop the ricotta mixture over the top, followed by sprinkling mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly over the surface.
  6. Cover the skillet and cook for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy your easy skillet lasagna!
