Ingrédients

Dough Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with whole wheat flour for a denser roll.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast If using active dry yeast, dissolve it in warm water first.
  • 1/2 cup milk, warmed Avoid super hot milk as it could cook the egg.
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 large egg
Filling Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries Can substitute with raisins, nuts, or chocolate chips.
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest Can substitute with lemon zest.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Whisk well to evenly distribute the yeast.
  2. In another bowl, mix the warm milk, melted butter, orange juice, and egg until blended.
  3. Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined with a wooden spoon.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead until smooth, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  6. After the dough has doubled, roll it out on a floured surface. Spread with additional melted butter, then sprinkle with sugar, orange zest, and cranberries.
  7. Roll the dough tightly and slice into 12 rolls.
  8. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise again until puffed, about 30 minutes.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
Serving
  1. If desired, drizzle with icing and enjoy them warm.
